THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL SUPPORT AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC STAIUS ON BURDEN OF CARE

Summary

97 care-givers who were relatives mid friends of mental patients served as participants. They were drawn from the Psychiatric Unit of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital and the Psychiatric Hospital Eket. Their ages ranged from 17 to 63 years. Data were collected using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MPSS) and die Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI. A cross-sectional research design was used in the study while a 2-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was adopted for data analysis.
